About this product

FARGO DTC4250e dual-sided ID card printer

The FARGO DTC4250e dual-sided printer produces colour or monochrome plastic ID cards directly onto approved card stock. The duplex configuration automatically turns each card, allowing a photograph and name on the front with contact details, terms or a barcode on the reverse.

Choose the supplied configuration

HID marks the DTC4250e as discontinued. Confirm the supplied unit, available consumables, operating-system driver and applicable support terms with ACB before ordering for a new installation. Its replacement models have separate specifications.

Cards, resolution and output

The printer uses 300 dpi direct-to-card printing for approved CR80 stock or supported CR79 adhesive-backed cards. The user guide specifies 0.229–1.016 mm cards. USB and network capability depend on the supplied configuration; check networking and any encoder requirement rather than assuming all options are fitted.

Published timings are approximately 16 seconds per YMCKO card and 24 seconds in YMCKOK mode. The 225-card/hour YMCKO headline is not a universal two-sided colour throughput guarantee. Allow for image processing, encoding and job settings.

Compare the single-sided DTC4250e. See the HID legacy product and discontinuation information and manufacturer technical documentation. Contact ACB to match software, consumables and any required encoding to the supplied printer.

Plan a two-sided card workflow

Use the front for a clear portrait and identification details. Put supporting information on the reverse, keeping both templates consistent. Test the final artwork and any barcode with the reader used in your organisation.

Cards, ribbons and routine cleaning

Review our premium blank white PVC cards in an approved size and thickness. Match the ribbon reference and driver mode to the supplied printer when ordering from the Fargo ribbon range.

The Fargo 86177 cleaning kit is listed by HID for the DTC4250e. Follow the guide for each cleaning card or swab. Keep unprinted stock clean and handle the edges to reduce marks on the printing surface.

DTC4250e dual-sided buying questions

How should I assess a discontinued printer offer?

Confirm the supplied unit, actual stock, consumable availability, driver support and applicable service terms with ACB. Compare the complete offer with the current Fargo range. A successor has its own specification and supply requirements.

Which ribbon suits a colour front and black reverse?

Choose the compatible YMCKOK reference for that intended mode. The second K panel supports reverse-side black artwork. Colour on both faces uses a different panel workflow, so confirm the correct supply and settings.

Can I use the 225-card/hour rate to plan every duplex job?

That headline is the YMCKO mode rating. The guide lists about 24 seconds for YMCKOK and excludes image processing and encoding from the timing. Plan a sample job to estimate completed output for your actual design.

Does this include networking and chip encoding?

Check the precise configuration being supplied. USB, network features and any magnetic or smart-card encoder need to match your workstation and reader requirements. Automatic two-sided printing does not establish that every optional function is fitted.

What if the reverse is blank?

Compare the single-sided DTC4250e for a front-only design. If you prefer finished cards, review ACB's photo ID card printing service alongside the total cost of operating a printer.
