About this product

FARGO DTC4250e single-sided ID card printer

The FARGO DTC4250e single-sided printer produces colour or monochrome plastic ID cards directly onto approved card stock. This configuration prints one face automatically, making it suitable for staff, student and membership designs whose information fits on the front.

Choose the supplied configuration

HID marks the DTC4250e as discontinued. Confirm the supplied unit, available consumables, operating-system driver and applicable support terms with ACB before ordering for a new installation. Its replacement models have separate specifications.

Cards, resolution and output

The printer uses 300 dpi direct-to-card printing for approved CR80 stock or supported CR79 adhesive-backed cards. The user guide specifies 0.229–1.016 mm cards. USB and network capability depend on the supplied configuration; check networking and any encoder requirement rather than assuming all options are fitted.

Published timings are approximately 16 seconds per YMCKO card and 24 seconds in YMCKOK mode. The 225-card/hour YMCKO headline is not a universal two-sided colour throughput guarantee. Allow for image processing, encoding and job settings.

Compare the dual-sided DTC4250e. See the HID legacy product and discontinuation information and manufacturer technical documentation. Contact ACB to match software, consumables and any required encoding to the supplied printer.

Plan a front-only card layout

Legacy DTC4250e single-sided model: check supplied stock, software and support.

Use this configuration when the photo, name and other required details fit on one face. First, prepare the template and check a sample. Then match the card stock, ribbon and driver settings before printing a batch.

Cards, ribbons and routine cleaning

Review our premium blank white PVC cards in an approved size and thickness. Match the ribbon reference and driver mode to the supplied printer when ordering from the Fargo ribbon range.

The Fargo 86177 cleaning kit is listed by HID for the DTC4250e. Follow the guide for each cleaning card or swab. Keep unprinted stock clean and handle the edges to reduce marks on the printing surface.

DTC4250e single-sided buying questions

Can I still buy this discontinued model?

HID's discontinued status describes the product lifecycle. Ask ACB to confirm available stock, the unit being supplied and applicable support. For a new installation, compare the current Fargo printer range and the manufacturer's listed successor.

Does the single-sided model print the reverse automatically?

This listing prints one face automatically. Compare the dual-sided DTC4250e if the card needs automatic reverse printing. Confirm any upgrade hardware against the specific supplied unit.

Is diagnostic software enough to design cards?

A printer maintenance utility and a card-design application serve different tasks. Confirm the design-software edition and licence included in the ACB offer, together with current computer and driver support.

Can it print an access-control credential?

Choose approved printable stock whose technology matches your reader system. Encoding requires the appropriate hardware and software. A card with a chip or stripe should be checked for print suitability and system compatibility before a production order.

What if I only issue cards occasionally?

Compare the equipment, software, consumable and staff-time costs with ACB's photo ID card printing service. The right choice depends on the number of cards per session and how often details change.
