A hotel key card is only useful when its technology matches the property’s lock and encoder. Some systems use contactless RFID credentials; others continue to use magnetic-stripe cards. Even within one lock brand, different installations can require different card specifications.

Two hotel key cards can look identical and still use different technology. These questions help establish the correct specification.
Do you print RFID and magnetic-stripe hotel key cards?
Yes. ACB can supply and print key cards for compatible RFID and magnetic-stripe systems. We confirm the lock and card specification before production.
How can I tell whether our current card is RFID or magstripe?
A magnetic-stripe card normally has a visible stripe and is swiped through the lock. An RFID card is generally presented or tapped near the reader. If you are unsure, send the lock brand, model and photographs of both sides of the existing card.
Can you match replacement cards to our existing hotel locks?
Often, yes—but the lock brand alone may not identify the credential. A model, system name, encoder detail or existing card sample helps us establish the correct route before printing.
Can hotel key cards be printed on both sides?
Yes. The front and back can carry your branding, guest information, QR codes or other operational details, provided the artwork leaves any required technical areas clear.
Can you produce separate guest and staff cards?
Yes. Guest, staff, housekeeping and management variants can use clearly different artwork or identifiers, subject to compatibility with the access system.
Can you add numbering or QR codes?
Yes. Simple numbering, identifiers, barcodes and QR codes can be printed where required. Tell us what the information needs to support so we can advise on the layout.
Do we receive a proof before printing?
Yes. A production proof is supplied for approval before printing. A sample credential may also be discussed where compatibility needs confirming.
Are lower-plastic hotel key cards available?
Recycled PVC and other material choices may be available depending on the credential technology and lock system. Explore the ACB eco card range or ask us to recommend a suitable option.
