About this product

Fargo HDP6600 dual-sided printer for detailed ID cards

The Fargo HDP6600 dual-sided printer combines 600 dpi retransfer output with automatic front-and-back card printing. It gives you room for a clear photo ID design on the front and useful supporting information on the reverse. Consider this configuration for staff, campus or membership programmes where both faces need personalisation.

Fargo HDP6600 dual-sided printer: plan both card faces

Place the photograph, name and visual identification on the front. The reverse can hold organisation contact details, a barcode, instructions or terms relevant to the holder. Agree the layout before ordering supplies, since a colour front with black text on the reverse uses a different ribbon plan from full-colour artwork on both faces.

The HDP6600 forms the image on HDP film before transferring it to the card. Retransfer printing supports an over-the-edge finish on suitable stock. A high-quality source image remains important for sharp results; 600 dpi describes the printer resolution rather than guaranteeing that every supplied photograph will reproduce well.

Plan for the complete print job

HID's headline rate is up to 230 cards per hour for YMCK printing with transfer. Printing both faces, adding encoding or using a lamination module changes production time. Use timings for your intended layout when planning an issue deadline, and allow time for preparation and quality checks.

The standard input hopper holds 100 cards, with expanded or dual input arrangements available as options. Approved CR80 stock at 30–40 mil, approximately 0.762–1.01 mm, can include suitable PVC, composite, PET, PETG or polycarbonate materials. Select the exact card construction for the print process and any additional lamination requirement.

Fargo HDP6600 dual-sided printer ribbon and film

A matching print ribbon and separate HDP transfer film are both required. Their stated capacities measure different consumables, and printing two faces can change the number of completed cards produced. Check the exact HDP6600 references and layout with ACB before choosing from the Fargo consumables range.

Start with our blank plastic cards when comparing stock. A technology card also needs the correct chip specification for your system. For encoding, the printer must have the appropriate fitted hardware and compatible software. Artwork printed on a smart card and data written to its chip are separate parts of personalisation.

Fargo HDP6600 dual-sided printer questions

Does this configuration include LMX lamination?

Dual-sided printing does not imply a lamination module. LMX lamination is an optional configured process with its own materials. HDP transfer film is required for printing but is not the same component as a separate protective laminate.

Would a single-sided printer be sufficient?

If all variable information is on the front, compare the single-sided HDP6600. Choose duplex when automatic printing of each face is part of the routine job, rather than selecting it solely because a card has a generic preprinted reverse.

How should I prepare the first order?

Confirm the printer configuration, card stock, software licence, operating-system support, ribbon, film and any encoder or laminator. Arrange model-compatible cleaning supplies as well. Consult HID's HDP6600 specifications or ask ACB to help match the setup. Our photo ID card printing service also offers a route to finished badges without running a printer yourself.
