MIFARE DESFire EV2 magstripe cards

MIFARE DESFire EV2 magstripe cards combine the listed 4K NXP chip with a separate 2750 Oe Hi-Co magnetic stripe. This pack of 100 supports a project that specifies both technologies. Agree the DESFire application and the magnetic data independently, then prepare the printed face for the card-issue workflow.

Specify the application as well as the chip

The DESFire EV2 interface uses 13.56 MHz and ISO/IEC 14443 Type A, including the ISO/IEC 14443-4 transmission protocol. The chip supports AES and DES/3DES cryptographic methods; the reader, software, keys and chosen configuration determine how these capabilities are used. Memory capacity is shared by application files and management information.

A DESFire card is not automatically a working credential for an existing installation. Check the required EV generation, 4K capacity, application identifiers, key configuration and enrolment process with your system provider. A matching frequency alone does not establish compatibility, and the magnetic stripe must be encoded separately with compatible equipment.

Coordinate the two electronic records and the artwork

Choose MIFARE DESFire EV2 magstripe cards by the exact EV generation, memory and stripe specification. A card-management plan should identify the required applications and keys alongside the magnetic track format. Keep a visible reference on the artwork where it helps operators reconcile the physical card with authorised records.

Approve a sample with the actual readers, encoders and printing setup. Test the two technologies separately and check how the complete credential is issued. If no stripe is required, compare the DESFire EV2 4K offer without a listed stripe. Choose an alternative generation only after the application provider approves the change.

Does writing a DESFire application also write the stripe?

No. The contactless chip and magnetic stripe need their respective supported interfaces and data workflows. Specify both where the project relies on both technologies.

Does the chip's encryption capability set access permissions?

Permissions and protection depend on the configured applications, keys, readers and management process. The chip specification alone does not enrol a user or configure a working site credential.

Can I use a later DESFire generation as an automatic replacement?

Have the system provider confirm the generation, commands, applications and key requirements first. Keep the approved card reference in the purchasing specification for repeat orders.
