HID OMNIKEY 3021 reader

Card and host interfaces

The manufacturer specifies ISO 7816 ID-1 cards, Class A/B/C voltage support and T=0/T=1 protocols. The host connection is USB 2.0 Full Speed through a USB Type A connector, with a 150 cm cable. CCID and PC/SC interfaces support integration with compatible host software.

HID OMNIKEY 3021 reader for your setup

HID lists Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Android platform support, subject to the operating-system version, host hardware and application requirements. Native CCID support can provide the reader driver; the intended smart-card application may still need its own middleware, credentials or licence. Check the card type and application before a wider rollout.

Your chosen application, card credentials and site permissions provide the intended service through the reader interface. Ask ACB to confirm the intended host, card and software combination.

See the HID OMNIKEY 3021 product information and manufacturer USB-reader technical sheet.

Check the full card-to-application workflow

Choose the HID OMNIKEY 3021 reader by the card interface first. A contact smart card is inserted so its electrical contacts connect to the reader; a contactless card is presented to a compatible radio reader. Confirm that the intended application uses the former before selecting this model.

Check the host's USB connection, supported operating-system version and application requirements together. Native CCID support concerns the reader interface; the intended service may still require middleware or authorised credentials. Trial the complete setup with a known working contact card before supplying readers to a larger team. For help identifying the required interface, contact ACB.

HID OMNIKEY 3021 reader: buying questions

Will this model read a MIFARE or Paxton proximity card by tapping?

It is a contact smart-card reader. Contactless credentials require a compatible contactless reader and application; a shared smart-card description does not establish the same interface.

Does USB driver support include the complete application?

No. The reader driver and the software used for the service are separate parts of the setup. Check any middleware, licence, account or credential requirements with the application provider.

What should I check for a replacement reader?

Record the current reader reference, card type, USB connection, operating system and application. Test the approved replacement in the actual workflow before a wider rollout.

Check the selected quantity and specification before adding this product to your basket. For help matching a card, reader or wearing accessory to your requirements, contact ACB.
