Eco cards UK
Eco cards for membership, gifting, photo ID cards and events. Compare recycled PVC, board and wood, then choose a named material that suits how your cards will be used.
A better material decision starts with the job the card must do. A short event pass, a regularly handled membership card and an electronic hotel key have different requirements. ACB helps you bring the material, printed design, personalisation and supply together.
Existing ACB eco-card design examples. The actual material and construction are agreed for your order.
Compare the materials
Explore recycled PVC, paperboard and wood against your required card life, handling and finish.
Keep your own design
Plan branded fronts and reverses, individual details and printed codes around the selected stock.
Plan the full supply
Include artwork, sample checks, accessories, matched letters and repeat orders in one brief.
Explore the eco card options
Choose a material or application below. Each page explains its own print, specification and ordering considerations. If your brief needs several options, include them in one enquiry.
Recycled PVC cards
Compare the selected stock with your current wallet card, holder and handling requirements.
Board cards
Choose a named grade and thickness for your scheme, then review how the finished stock feels.
Invercote Duo board cards
Ask for the exact Invercote Duo grade, thickness and finished construction in the quotation.
Degradable plastic cards
Request the product reference and information covering the complete card being quoted.
Recyclable cards
Identify the collection or specialist route you expect card holders to use.
Board event cards
Define delegate, crew, exhibitor or VIP layouts and the date the passes need to be ready.
Wood cards
Consider grain and colour variation as part of the card design and proofing plan.
Eco membership cards
Compare expected life, renewal frequency, wallet handling and replacement needs.
Choose eco cards by material and purpose
Recycled PVC for familiar handling
Consider recycled PVC where a conventional plastic-card format suits the application. Specify the recycled content of the quoted stock and check any chip, stripe or overprinting requirements. Recycled content describes the input material; it does not establish where the finished card can be recycled.
Board for a paper-based route
Explore board cards for gifting, membership and suitable passes. Choose the actual grade, thickness and surface finish. The stock, coating, printing and any embedded components determine the complete construction and the appropriate disposal guidance.
Wood for a distinctive finish
A natural grain can become part of the design of a membership card, gift card or guest key. Review a sample to see how colour, fine detail and surface variation affect your artwork. Confirm the exact construction and electronic credential where needed.
Start with your scheme, then select the stock
For a membership scheme, consider issue frequency and replacement cards. For gifting, start with till codes and presentation. For events, include the pass size and attachment. For access or hotel use, identify the exact credential before comparing materials.
Share the conditions the card will encounter and any policy your organisation needs to meet. Agree the exact stock, print, finish and any technology together, then keep the approved specification for future orders.
What to confirm
- How long the card needs to stay in use
- Wallet, holder, keyring or lanyard handling
- Artwork, names, photographs and printed codes
- Any required chip, stripe or electronic preparation
- The evidence needed for material claims
- Collection and disposal options for the complete card
Personalise your eco cards
Bring the design and individual details together before the production file is prepared. ACB can discuss names, numbers, photographs and suitable printed codes for the chosen material. The final layout and available features depend on the actual stock and format.
Artwork and a proof
Share your logo, wording and existing artwork. Agree the finished dimensions, printed sides, bleed and safe areas using the correct template. Review the front and reverse, spelling, colours and any material statement before approving production.
Data and printed codes
Confirm whether each code is shared or unique and supply the required format from your system provider. Check leading zeros, long names and sample records. Agree a scan test where the scheme depends on a barcode or QR code.
Samples and electronic checks
Discuss a physical sample if feel, durability, overprinting or compatibility matters. An RFID card needs the exact credential and reader specification. Printing the artwork and preparing electronic data are separate requirements.
From printed cards to a complete issue
Presentation and matched packs
Discuss carriers, wallets, personalised letters, envelopes and card attachment with ACB. Include the quantities, data matching and packing requirements in the brief so the quotation covers the complete job.
For passes, include lanyards and any holders. For electronic cards, include the agreed sample test and system reference. Keep the material and surface requirements consistent across the card and its presentation.
Repeat orders and delivery
Tell us about your first batch, expected reorders and required delivery date. Production timing depends on stock, artwork approval, data, finishing and any electronic preparation or fulfilment.
Agree bulk delivery, split quantities or an individual mailing where required. Check the approved design, material, wording and number sequence before each repeat order.
Clear material information for your organisation
Request product-specific information for the finished card. Recycled content, recyclable, plastic-free, degradable and compostable describe different things. Use only the statement supported by the actual construction and the evidence supplied for your order.
If your brief includes certified stock, a particular recycled-content percentage or a defined collection route, tell ACB at the enquiry stage. Confirm permitted wording and any certification-mark requirements before they are added to the artwork.
Give recipients disposal instructions that match an available accepted route. Added coatings, electronic components or other features may affect that route. For paperboard background, see Holmen’s information about laminated paperboard and Invercote Duo.

Eco cards: questions answered
Which eco card material is best?
The suitable material depends on use, expected life, finish and any technology. Compare named specifications using the same project brief. ACB can discuss samples and help you assess the trade-offs before ordering.
Are all eco cards plastic-free?
No. Recycled PVC is still plastic. Board and wood options have different constructions, and finishes or electronic components can change the material content. Ask for confirmation of the complete card being quoted.
Can eco cards include RFID?
Discuss the exact chip, reader and encoding requirements. Available combinations depend on material and construction. A physical sample and a test on your actual system should be agreed before a full electronic-card order.
What quantity can I order?
The suitable order quantity depends on stock, format, printing and production route. Tell ACB about the first batch and any smaller repeat issues you expect. The available quantities and pricing will be confirmed for the actual specification.
Can you help with design and artwork?
Share your logo, wording, preferred style and existing artwork. ACB will agree the support and template requirements for the chosen card. Review the proof, individual fields and any material statement before production.
How long will the cards take?
Timing depends on stock, artwork and data approval, finishing, technology and fulfilment. Give ACB your required delivery date at the enquiry stage so the schedule can be confirmed for the agreed order.
